MS Outlook Express POP3 Email Account Setup
If you have installed the latest version of Internet Explorer, then you will be using Outlook Express as your email program. There should be an icon on your desktop for Outlook Express. Please follow the instructions below for setup.
Setup Instructions:
- Double click the Outlook Express icon on your desktop.
- After the Outlook Express software loads, select the "Tools" menu then "Accounts".
- Click the "Add" button and select "Mail".
- Under "Display Name" type in your name as you want it to appear on e-mail you send to others.
- Click the "Next" button.
- In "Email Address" type in your email address i.e. - user-id@ridgewoodcable.com
- Click the "Next" button.
Setting up the Mail Server Information:
- In "My Incoming Mail Server", select "POP3".
- Type mail.ridgewoodcable.com in the Incoming Mail POP Server.
- Type mail.ridgewoodcable.com in the Outgoing Mail SMTP Server.
- Click the "Next" button.
- Make sure "Logon Using" is selected.
- Pop Account Name - enter yours in the form of:
Example: user-id@ridgewoodcable.com - see your set up info emailed to you.
- Password - type in your Password for (remember passwords are case sensitive).
- Internet Account Name - Only you see this and only in setup. We recommend you put your email address here.
- Click the "Next" button.
Selecting a Connection Type:
- Make sure "Connect using network" is selected.
- Click the "Next" button.
- Click the "Finish" button.
When you want to check for new mail messages you will need to click the Send & Receive button on the Outlook Express Toolbar. You may want to check under the "Tools" menu and select "Options". You can set various options, such as, checking for messages automatically, sending automatically, etc.
Final Note: MS Outlook Express can have more than one email account.
To set up additional accounts, simply repeat the steps above: With the additional email account setup info user name POP SMTP etc
